1. Why don't all polls close at exactly the same time?
-all poles shut their doors at 7 generally, but they stay opem until all the peoplewho were in line have voted so it takes a while

2. What do poll workers at each site have to do once voting is complete in order for votes to be counted?
-tally up the votes, make sure the number coincideds with pper records, record and secure the coting machines, follow coting regulations

3. In what ways are the actual vote counts delivered from actual polling places to the central location of election administration?
-by the election officers by hand

4. Why might the votes come in slower from rural areas?
-it may take them longer to drive the results back


5. Why might journalists be the first source of election results in some states but not in all states?
-some states require polls to post a results sheet so journalists can quickly
Post the results before the official count

6. Why may absentee ballots slow the official election results?
-absentee ballots come in slowly and have to be approved so there is a longer process while handling them

7. What are provisional ballots?
-ballots that will be used if necessary vut arent henerally becaise the people in the ballot is not truly elligible to vote

8. Why are the official results made public much later than when the election is "called"?
- elections are called whem one side can not be beat; states have to be right and could not change his findings

9. Why was the speed of getting election results emphasized during the Progressive Era?
-it allowed new govts to quickly be involved and minimized oportunities for corruption
